The Courtyard Modular Home Park

The rising quality levels of modular home fit and finish continue to astonish. Once inside today's modular home one could be forgiven for supposing he is in a high end site built home. Manufacturers have done an amazing job bringing modular home interiors up to modern / minimalist standards. Now where there may still be room for improvement is outside, is with the landscaping and siting of the building. To that end VRT has worked up a study for a possible configuration where each modular home is fashioned as a mini compound around a courtyard on somewhat over-sized lots compared to those found in most manufactured home parks. VRT is seriously bullish on manufactured homes, hoping that a large proportion of home buyers can be persuaded to consider the manufactured home provided they are equipped with thoughtful landscaping, generous paved deck areas, integrated storage, arranged around a courtyard affording privacy and indoor / outdoor living.

In this quick study, each lot is given a long, narrower mobile home for bedrooms and baths, a shorter single wide for kitchen and dining, and an approximately 30' x 30' modular living rm constructed of sip panels and glulam beam and columns.. The living, dining, bedroom sections form an L to the side and back of the courtyard. In front there is storage, a carport, and fence forming a complementary L around the courtyard. On the long portion of this L is placed an outdoor kitchen, dining, and living areas along with a spa. As shown the driveway has room for 2 cars with room for another 4 on the street.
