Singlewide With Five Beds, Storage, & Courtyard Garden
How does manufactured housing successfully appeal to the middle class homebuyer ? First, boost curb appeal to get homebuyers over the mobile home stigma. Second, package it so as to provide for private, fun, and functional indoor / outdoor living. Third, give it a carport and supplemental storage. Americans have a buy and hold strategy with regard to their belongings. Rather than lecturing them on the ills of 'consumerism', give them the means to deal with it in the manufactured house. Fourth, borrow from the space efficient design found in the nautical realm particularly the luxury yacht. Make good use of built ins for bunk style beds, desks, wardrobes, sofa banqs extending the traditional use of built ins for vanities and kitchen cabinets.
Here is a design drawn up just in time for the upcoming manufactured pow wow in Louisville. It features 4 built in Queen beds and 1 built in King fitted into 3 en suite bedrooms. It features an open plan kitchen, dining and living with the living room doubling as a home theater. It has a double carport and scads of storage shelving. It has a built-in covered outdoor barbecue, outdoor dining and outdoor living each with its own retractable awning, a spa also with retractable awning, and a private elevated terrace running along the street.
The manufactured home shown is a 16' x 75' singlewide while the lots are the typical 40' x 125' dimensions found in the existing manufactured home park. Note that internal hallways are dispensed with in preference for a site built passageway integral to the supplemental storage area and connecting with the carport.
